My local council the City of Stirling is in the process of changing their Waste Collection and Recycling Services. I’ve been meaning to blog about this since March when I found out the City of Stirling no longer sorted rubbish from the Single Bin Recycling system, even though the Council hadn’t bothered telling anyone. I’ve broken the topic into a number of posts and will upload them in the coming weeks, just to space out the garbage.

today i went to Star Swamp Reserve to pick up some trash for Clean Up Australia Day. i worked along the fenceline on North Beach Rd & a women pushing a pram passed by and said, “Good on you, you’re doing a great job!” having a baby would make picking up rubbish difficult, but those who can’t join in, can provide encouragement! This Sunday is Clean Up Australia Day. Many local councils and community groups are organizing rubbish pick-ups at beaches, bushland reserves and public open spaces. You can find out where to go in your area from the ‎ Clean Up Australia Day Facebook. Go to a local spot on Sunday morning and help out. It’s going to be very hot in Perth this weekend, so take water to drink, wear a hat and sunscreen and enclosed footwear because snakes are active. Continue reading
