The dog helps me take photos when we pass the water level markers at Lake Gwelup.
In autumn March 2015 the water is close to its lowest point. Two birds sit on a partially submerged log next to the furthest marker. (Click to enlarge.) The first marker is hidden behind the gum tree.
In winter August 2015 the water is almost at its highest. The third marker is submerged.
In spring November 2015 the water is starting to recede but the third marker is still submerged.
In summer December 2015 the top of the third marker is just visible.
In autumn April 2016 all three markers are out of the water. The log two birds sat on a year ago is visible in the mud (left of the third marker, click to enlarge) but there’s still lots of water for birds to enjoy.
Since I took this last photo we had 25.8mm of rain on Monday night. I haven’t seen the water level since the downpour, but the birds should be happy.
